Milestones

  • Climate Change Review Panel

    In October 2019, the first meeting of the cross-party led Climate Change Review Panel was held. In February 2021 the Council agreed to take forward the recommendations of the review panel.
  • Declaration of Climate Emergency

    On 24th February 2021, East Riding of Yorkshire Council declared a climate emergency.
  • Commonplace - Initial Climate Change Consultation

    Recognising the need for engagement at an early stage the Sustainable Development Team completed early consultation using Commonplace. The survey opened in November 2021 and closed in February 2022. Feedback from the survey identified some of the public’s key concerns including transport and air quality, trees and green spaces and buildings and homes. These have been reflected within the priority areas of the Strategy.
  • Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission - Climate Action Plan

    In November 2021, the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission produced its action plan for the region.
  • Draft Climate Change Strategy - 8 week consultation

    The consultation for the Climate Change Strategy has been held over an 8-week period between 1 August 2022 and 25 September 2022. The consultation aimed to gather as much feedback as possible on the draft material focusing on key aspects of the strategy.
  • East Riding Climate Change Strategy 2022- 2030

  • Public Engagement

    Public engagement on the Climate Action Plan is currently underway, with planned workshops, roundtables, webinars alongside the engagement through this platform.
  • Action Plan Development

    Since the release of the Climate Change Strategy, work has been underway to set the frameworks for an effective climate action plan. To achieve this, it was agreed to procure external specialists to support with the development and the necessary engagement that will have to take place. RSK Group will be leading on this process.
  • Finalised Climate Action Plan
